ZAPP Classes

ZAPP, Hugo House's Zine Archive and Publishing Project, offers occasional classes on zines, zine history and aspects of zine-making, led by local writers, artists and zinesters.

Almost Free Press: Zine Production from Ideas to Ink
A zine is a self published miniature magazine created by artists and/or writers who share a passion for expression and D.I.Y.-style production. ZAPP's 17,000 zines will serve as inspiration and example as we learn the basics of how to construct, publish and distribute a zine.  Collectively, we'll write, draw, collage, edit and bind a zine in one afternoon. You'll leave with a handful of the class's zines and instructions on various methods for the next time you want to use this unique form of media to express yourself.
